Remembering Adam Yauch AKA MCA of The Beastie Boys

Died Today of Cancer at age 47

Before Eminem there was The Beastie Boys.

I first heard the group way back when the Def Jam labels were maroon not black and silver.

By my senior year in high school everyone was talking about this new single Hold It Now Hit It.

I felt vindicated because I had loved Slow and Low but no one was feeling it like me.

Then The Beastie Boys released Paul Revere, and after that the world was ready.

I loved The Beasties and everything that Licensed To Ill did for hip hop....

The main thing it did was make hip hop extra cool in the suburbs.

My favorite Beastie Boy memory is seeing them perform at The Spectrum with Run DMC!

Adam....you will be missed.

I always hoped that you, Mike and Adam Horovitz would have gotten together with Rick (Rubin) and Russel and gave us one more classic LP.

Oh well we will always have 1985......
