BREAKING NEWS: Hip Hop's Baby Chris Lighty ...Gone

All Of The Details Are Not in.

But The NY Daily News is reporting that the man who made people like A Tribe Called Quest and Foxy Brown stars in the world of hip hop is gone.

Reports are saying that he shot himself during a fight with his ex wife.

I last saw "Baby" Chris Lighty at The Chaka Khan concert at The Borgata a couple of years ago.

Since the take over of the internet I don't see my NY, Music and Entertainment family face to face nearly enough.

I have it on good personal authority, he's gone.

I will saw more details as they come in.

Chris Lighty was 43.

Ray's List: MAD on Cartoon Network

MAD MAGAZINE on Cartoon Network may be the funniest, artsiest, freshest show that you are missing.

The Cartoon Network show is based on the popular magazine that has been a favorite on news stands since 1952. Not to be confused with the former SNL rival MAD TV.

MAD on Cartoon Network really is an animated version of the monthly magazine.

Here's A Few Reason Why You Should Check It Out!

1. MAD is an original-With out the success of Mad Magazine would there even be a Cartoon Network?
How many people who work at CN were either readers of MAD or influenced by readers, writers and artists of Mad Magazine. I know it was my dream job at age 15.

2. Mad Is Still Original-Over the years a few MAD rip offs came and enjoyed various levels of success there was Marvel's Crazy and also Cracked. I thought both Crazy and Cracked were excellent comedy magazines. However, only Mad has been able to stay into the 21st century. Mad is still full of ever changing and original ideas ...all of them funny.

3. The Humor In MAD should make you think more than it makes you ANGRY.
One thing I enjoy about MAD while reading as an adult is that the humor is often based on serious issues, Hollywood's lack of new ideas, and just the funny things in life.

4. Watching Mad on Cartoon Network is a great way to connect with your kids. Why watch an episode and then share some classic issues or go to the news stand and pick up the latest.
It should be a great way to at least encourage the enjoyment of reading.

The Business Of Music With Robert Williams: Value Your Product

STOP GIVING AWAY ALL YOUR MUSIC!
Check here for the NEW Business Of Music Column By Robert Williams of T Marquise Entertainment!

The Free Mixtape/Street Album phenomena is killing the revenue flow in the Hip-Hop game. Artists are not getting paid, producers are not getting paid, etc.. I say, leave the MULTIPLE Mixtapes for the DJs, and the rappers should go back to giving out singles and samplers and creating quality EPs or Albums that they can market and sell.
Rappers have trained their audience to expect free music all of the time with the multiple releases of Free Street Albums…CRAZY!
Stop painting rap fans with a broad brush. Not every rap fan wants free throwaway music. Rap fans are not demanding this free clutter music; it’s being shoved on them. Many aspiring Rock & Roll, Pop, Country and R&B artists are building solid fanbases without giving away free albums. Rappers Take Note!
You can put out a free single or sampler, and still spark a lot of interest in your brand. Who told you that you MUST put out a FREE Street Album/mixtape?

Good Night Phyllis

Like Lucille Ball and Carol Burnette, Phyllis Diller proved comedy is a WOMAN'S WORLD.

Today whenever you hear a Paula Poundstone,or even Mo'Nique, you can draw influences and laughs directly from the life of Ms. Diller.

The Music and Entertainment Report's Club Harlem Tribute

It is with great pride that we officially announce that The Polaris Group will be teaming up with
The Music and Entertainment Report radio show and website to bring
The City Of Atlantic City some great entertainment at this year's Kentucky Ave Festival!

Come on out from 2pm to 4pm to see The Music and Entertainment Report/Little Wellness Art Center's
TRIBUTE TO THE CLUB HARLEM!

For the better part of The 20th Century The Club Harlem stood on Kentucky Avenue in Atlantic City.
At the height of it's success The Club Harlem bragged that it had been a haven for as many important Black stars as the Apollo.
Club Harlem also offered one important thing The Apollo could not, in that The Club Harlem was in walking distance to the beach.

Everyone from Sam Cooke and Sammy Davis Jr. to Will Smith have appeared on that stage.

Produced by WNJC personality Raymond Tyler
At 2pm on August 11th. We invite you to come enjoy 2 hours of free entertainment out in the fresh air with your family. We are putting together a show that will pay tribute to the Club Harlem with classic music and some a dash of new music and dance as well. We will even have a comic and spoken word artist or two.

We are still auditioning...for more info contact Raymond Tyler at raymondctyler@gmail.com
