We Remember Actress/Singer Natina Reed

Natina Reed, member of the girl group Blaque, has passed away at the age of 32. She was struck by a vehicle. It was not a hit and run accident. The driver of the vehicle called 911for assistance and no charges are pending at this time. She

was pronounced dead at 10:59 p.m. last night. May her soul rest and her family, especially her 10 year old son, find comfort in this difficult time. Also, may the driver of the vehicle find their own peace as well... very devastating news. 10/28/79-10/26/2012 Natina Reed, may you fly with all the other angels we have lost.

Happy Birthday to Mrs. Ruby Dee!

She and her late husband Ossie Davis are two of the reasons why I hold my head up as an artist today.

I have said no to many, many, many ideas and "opportunities" that come my way because I value my integrity over a dollar. That is because of the example set and maintained by Ruby Dee.

There are other people who are millionaires and even one billionaire whom will be remembered as clowns because they built their wealth by making a joke of people of color.

I could go on.

All I need to say, is thanks Ms. Dee. and may God bless you with many more joyous days and may we continue to learn at your feet. Through the magic that is film, you will continue to teach generations to come.

Behind the Scenes - Mockingbird Lane

We told you first here that The Munsters were being re booted.

This Friday the new show called Mocking Bird debuts on NBC.

From the previews I have seen it's a little more Addams Family than Munsters but I will give it a chance.
The truth is I don't know that I would like any change from good ole Herman, Lilly and Grand Pa.

One thing that did disappoint is that the new Munster's don't look like bizarre people who are oblivious to how do not fit in. However, I expect that in this version the behavior will be a little bit more bizarre.

It could work.

It could fail horribly.

That's why God created the mid-season replacement.

As a multi-talented comedian who encompasses writing, producing, directing, acting and performing stand-up comedy, Jeff Garlin has honed a successful career that started at Second City in his hometown of Chicago. Influenced by the comedians of his childhood (such as Richard Pryor, Woody Allen and Shelley Berman), Garlin enjoys telling stories, exploring his personal foibles and exposing his innermost thoughts for all to hear.

Garlin both co-stars and executive produces the critically acclaimed HBO series ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm” (2000). The unique comedy, which is one of the rare television shows to become part of the national zeitgeist, stars “Seinfeld” (1990) creator Larry David with Garlin portraying his loyal manager. The series recently won the Golden Globe Award for Best Comedy, The Danny Thomas Producer of the Year Award from the Producers Guild of America and the AFI comedy series of the year award.

Previously, Garlin was a series regular for three seasons on “Mad About You” (1992) in the role of Marvin. He also had his own self titled half hour special on HBO. Born and raised in Chicago and then South Florida, Garlin studied film making and began performing stand-up comedy while at the University of Miami. He has toured the country as a stand-up comedian, is an alumnus of Chicago's Second City Theater, and has written and starred in three critically acclaimed solo shows ("I Want Someone to Eat Cheese With," "Uncomplicated" and "Concentrated"). As a director he has directed “Curb Your Enthusiasm” (2000) and both John Stewart ("Unleavened") and Denis Leary ("Lock-n-Load") in their HBO specials.

Discovery Channel Is Shooting At The Taj in Atlantic City this Week

The Taj is buzzing this week, with film crews seen all around the property shooting a episode of an upcoming TV series called "Gambling Games." The episode featuring Trump Taj Mahal is scheduled to air on the Discovery Channel by the end of 2012.

Scenes shot at the Taj included blackjack, roulette, craps, and slots, as well as property exteriors.

Wild Wood Is All Cheers

Cheer Tech Returns to the Wildwoods Convention Center for
Four Days of Championship Competitions in November & December

The Wildwoods, NJ – October 24, 2012 - Cheer Tech returns to the Wildwoods Convention Center for four days with hundreds of cheerleading teams bringing their dance moves, pom-poms and spirit to compete for a winning title on Sunday, November 4, Sunday, November 18, Saturday, December 1 and Sunday, December 2.
The Cheer Tech Island Championship U.S. Finals competition on Sunday, November 4 will include recreation, high school, collegiate, all-star and open divisions. Competitions will be held from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
The ARSC Rec and School U.S. Finals competition on Sunday, November 18 will be open to all recreational centers and school programs that are members of the American Recreation and School Cheer Association. Competitions will be held from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
The Cheer Tech Spirit National Championship will take place on Saturday, December 1 from 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. and on Sunday, December 2 from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.
All competing teams in each event will perform on a 54’ by 42’ spring floor and will try to impress the crowd and win the judges’ votes. All performances will be choreographed to music and sound effects, and the chosen winning teams will be awarded prizes.
All competitions will take place inside the Wildwoods Convention Center, located at 4501 Boardwalk in Wildwood, NJ. Admissions for each event are $15 for adults, $10 for children 10 and under and FREE for children 3 and under.

Ball Night To End AIDS in Africa

Friendly Competition Sports Program will Host END AIDS IN AFRICA Basketball Showcase

Atlantic City, NJ – October 17, 2012 – for immediate release. On October 28th Friendly Competition in conjunction with the NIKE(RED) initiative will be hosting a high school basketball showcase. Participants were selected by Coaches of Cape Atlantic League schools.

Players: Rosters will be announced on ESPN RADIO 1360am Saturday October 20^th
Friendly Competition has 2 goals.
1. to get the student athletes of south jersey more recognition and exposure.
2. To help raise awareness on how AIDS is a virus that
can be eliminated. US, AFRICA, WORLDWIDE
Bruce Davenport Owner/Operator has done sport& fitness event since 2009 in Atlantic County. Some including Crossfit competition, a Golf tournament, a 3 on3 tournament, all which had raised money for local organizations. His current event does both, raises awareness for AIDS IN AFRICA and helps the youth exposé their talent to the world.

“Plain and simple, South Jersey Sport Culture is behind in regards to the rest of the country. All I want to do is help progress our sports culture and get our local talent the recognition they deserve.”

“ It is important for people to get involved in their community and the world. We have to expand our minds and get away from the “what about me” mentality”

Players who were not pre selected can compete for a spot in Sundays Show case on Saturday Oct 27th. Also Friendly Competition will conduct a Sports Education Sat Oct 27 at PHS in conjunction with the NAACP.

Today The report goes Back, Back To School!

Miss Pleasantville Cierra Farquarshon returns to PMS for The Back To School Jam 2!

Today a week before we kick off our annual drive to collect NEW WARM CLOTHING and NEW GIFTS for needy children. We are doing our second Back To School Jam at The Pleasantville Middle School today at 1pm!

We have members of the community such as Les Squair Jr. from Mentee Me and Joe Carter from The Vision Of Change Youth Leadership day who will speak to the students of Pleasantville's Public School's 8th Grade about doing well and excelling this school year!
