Night Clubs At The Revel

Revel and Angel Management Group are introducing day-into-night entertainment this summer with HQ Nightclub and HQ Beach Club, two distinctive experiences at the beachfront destination in Atlantic City.  HQ Nightclub and HQ Beach Club are poised to set the standard for East Coast nightlife, presenting elevated experiences designed to thrill an influential crowd.
The focal point of Revel’s entertainment venues, the 40,000-square-foot HQ Nightclub will consist of four levels, each incorporating an entirely different experience that will stun even the most discerning clubgoers and trendsetters.  Starting with a chic candlelit library bar complete with gaming, billiards and custom-made cocktails on the first floor, the energy will climb throughout the levels of the club, culminating in a sleek rooftop outfitted in chic yacht-inspired décor and offering impeccable panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean. The club’s main room will also house a state-of-the-art performance area created to host the most-in demand entertainment acts.
With inspiration gathered from the beautiful island of Mykonos to the South of France, HQ Beach Club will represent an unprecedented daylife and nightlife atmosphere spanning 45,000 square feet of beachfront space. Situated directly on the boardwalk with the ocean as its backdrop, HQ Beach Club will be the ultimate day into night escape, delivering the signature pool party AMG has pioneered to the Northeast.
As the first venture of this scale on the East Coast, HQ Nightclub and Beach Club will offer provocative experiences that rival international nightlife and daylife destinations, creating an entirely new level of experiential entertainment.
Revel opens its doors April 2 with an eight-week preview culminating in the resort premiere on Memorial Day weekend. Spanning 6.3 million square feet and standing 47 stories tall in Atlantic City, Revel is bringing a true resort option to the Northeast. The beachfront destination is smoke-free and features 1,800 rooms with an ocean view, two performance spaces, more than a dozen restaurants, two nightclubs, a dayclub, spa, beach club, retail shops and a casino.  Revel is located on the Boardwalk at Connecticut Avenue in Atlantic City, New Jersey. ESPERANZA SPALDING RELEASES RADIO MUSIC SOCIETY, A KALEIDOSCOPIC COLLECTION CELEBRATING THE POWER OF SONG

It has not taken Esperanza Spalding long to emerge as one of the brightest lights in the musical world.  Listeners familiar with her stunning 2008 Heads Up International debut, Esperanza, and her best-selling 2010 release Chamber Music Society, were well aware that the young bassist, vocalist and composer from Portland, Oregon was the real deal, with a unique and style-spanning presence, deeply rooted in jazz yet destined to make her mark far beyond the jazz realm.  That judgment was confirmed on February 13, 2011, when Spalding became the first jazz musician to receive the GRAMMY®Award for Best New Artist.  On March 20th, 2012, Heads Up International, a division of Concord Music Group, gives us Spalding's latest release, Radio Music Society, her most diverse, ambitious and masterful recital yet. 11 songs are accompanied by conceptual short films, which further express Esperanza’s inspiration and story behind each track. Shot in various locations including New York City; Barcelona, Spain; and Portland, Oregon; all videos will be available to purchasers of Radio Music Society as a digital download or a DVD on the deluxe version.
Radio Music Society is a companion, rather than a sequel, to Spalding’s previous disc, which reached No. 1 on theBillboard Contemporary Jazz Chart.  “Originally I thought it would be fun to release a double album,” she explains, “One disc with an intimate, subtle exploration of chamber works and a second one in which jazz musicians explore song forms and melodies that are formatted more along the lines of what we would categorize as “pop songs.”  Those are the two things that really interest me, and it intrigues me to think about different presentation approaches while writing each kind of song.  On the pop song side, I think about listeners who aren’t into jazz, but I also think about the people within my musical community who can interpret each idea best.”

Celebrating Women's History Month...Don't You Just Love Nikki Giovanni

It's Not Often That Almost Everything Someone Says Inspires me.
Nikki G is that Exception.

Here is a Piece That I use to teach POETRY and CREATIVE WRITING!
Ego Tripping by Nikki Giovanni Lyrics

I was born in the congo
I walked to the fertile crescent and built
the sphinx
I designed a pyramid so tough that a star
that only glows every one hundred years falls
into the center giving divine perfect light
I am bad

I sat on the throne
drinking nectar with allah
I got hot and sent an ice age to europe
to cool my thirst
My oldest daughter is nefertiti
the tears from my birth pains
created the nile
I am a beautiful woman

I gazed on the forest and burned
out the sahara desert
with a packet of goat's meat
and a change of clothes
I crossed it in two hours
I am a gazelle so swift
so swift you can't catch me

For a birthday present when he was three
I gave my son hannibal an elephant
He gave me rome for mother's day
My strength flows ever on

My son noah built new/ark and
I stood proudly at the helm
as we sailed on a soft summer day
I turned myself into myself and was
jesus
men intone my loving name
All praises All praises
I am the one who would save

I sowed diamonds in my back yard
My bowels deliver uranium
the filings from my fingernails are
semi-precious jewels
On a trip north
I caught a cold and blew
My nose giving oil to the arab world
I am so hip even my errors are correct
I sailed west to reach east and had to round off
the earth as I went
The hair from my head thinned and gold was laid
across three continents

I am so perfect so divine so ethereal so surreal
I cannot be comprehended except by my permission

I mean...I...can fly
like a bird in the sky...

The Truth....Wilt and 100

Numbers Never Lie....NEVER!

50 Years ago Wilton Norman Chamberlain Scored 100 points in an NBC game.PERIOD!

Friday March 2nd marked the 50th anniversary of Wilt dropping a full buck on The NY Knicks.

It's been widely known that there is no film of that game other than the snap shot of Wilt holding the paper.

For years it's been acknowledged that Wilt did it. And could have scored more but they stopped the game after.

Now because we live in a microwave society and I believe because he's black, you have sports writers and commentators calling his record into question.

Now the first thing I find funny, is that although Wilt himself said there were only about 400 people at that game, he had met thousands who claimed to have been in the building that night. I find it quite amusing and a great part of a great story.

However, I hate that these writers, because they want to throw dirt on anything that did not happen in the "last 15 minutes" , now want to question the 100 point record.

Here is the thing. Wilt was playing at the height of his talent against athletes who were most likely not much better than some current high school players of today.

There has never been a machine built to score buckets like Wilt. Not Jordan, not Kobe. Wilt with Jerry West in their prime would still average a point total that would make medicine sick.

I do think that Kobe and MJ could have scored 100 points easily in Wilt's era. Except that they weren't there and Wilt was.

Wilt also has super human numbers in regards to assist records, and rebounds.

If you want to question whether Wilt scored 100 in a single game?
Then I get to go back and look at Babe Ruth's pitching record and call that into question because I have seen CC Sabathia play and Ruth's numbers are too super human to be real.

I wouldn't do that because it's dis respectful not only to what Ruth built but to the millions who have been positively effected by his accomplishments. And I have no valid reason to doubt Ruth's numbers at the plate or on the mound.

You can crown Kobe the best since Jordan or better if you want.

JUST DON'T TARNISH WILT'S LEGACY TO JUSTIFY IT!

Celebration of Women's History Month: Lorraine Hansberry

To Be YOUNG GIFTED AND BLACK

Lorraine Vivian Hansberry (May 19, 1930[1] – January 12, 1965) was an African American playwright and author of political speeches, letters, and essays.[2] Her best known work, A Raisin in the Sun, was inspired by her family's battle against racial segregation in Chicago.

Now personally I feel inspired by Hansberry's work every time I write. I still find it impossible to believe that I had never heard of or seen A Raisin In the Sun until years after I graduated high school.

I have seen elements "borrowed" in some of the best plays, drams, stories and poetry I have experienced from A Raisin In The Sun and her autobiography To Be Young Gifted and Black.

I am an artist who wants to be known as being gifted but also being concerned. It is the work of writers lead by Ms. Hansberry that lets me know not only am i not crazy, I am never as alone as I feel in my quest to be (both talented and concerned.)

Modesto Lacen Lands New Role In Telemundo Soap; Nabs Best Actor Award

With a Best Actor award for his portrayal of baseball great Roberto Clemente and a meaty role in a new soap opera that premieres today, actor Modesto Lacen is landing the types of roles that many actors long for.

In the Telemundo soap opera, “Relaciones Peligrosas (Dangerous Relationships),” Lacen takes on the role of Bertrand DuPont, a Haitian father and businessman who faces some tough obstacles. “In this show, I play a father whose son is being bullied at school. I’m going to be handling that issue but we will also deal with issues of racism and prejudice. We hope to show how people can take care of their issues and overcome them and be an
    example of dignity.”

In the off-Broadway play “The Roberto Clemente Story,” Lacen plays the Pittsburgh Pirates right fielder who, in 1960, became the first Hispanic baseball player to win a World Series as a starter. The play, which Lacen says has received “really good responses from audiences and critics,” begins a limited off-Broadway engagement on February 14 and runs through April 8.

Lacen, who, like Clemente, is Black and Puerto Rican, says it’s an honor to portray such an icon. “Growing up in my house he was someone we always looked up to,” he says. “Besides being a great baseball player he was a great example for Puerto Ricans, specifically Black Puerto Ricans. This is a way for me to pay homage to a great man and his legacy.” Lacen won an ACE Best Actor award for his role in the play, which garnered six awards total. He has also received an ATI nomination for his work.

The play is tentatively slated to tour Pittsburgh, Orlando, Miami, Puerto Rico and Nicaragua. For show times and ticket information, visit www.teatrosea.org.

A native of Loiza, Puerto Rico with some 20 films and numerous TV shows to his credit, Lacen says it’s important for him to take on meaningful roles. “I became an actor not for the fame or the money. Acting is my calling. It is very important for me to invest my energy in projects that mean something and characters that are not stereotypes of Black people and Latinos. I think we’re at a moment where we cannot afford that anymore. We have to set aside these stereotypes of the past because that doesn’t help anybody.

Sex In The City Prequel on The CW

Before Sex By Raymond Tyler

HBO over the years has been brilliant. Yeah HBO is the network that has tried to recently get people to watch LUCK over a very fresh House Of Lies on Show Time. However, over the years HBO has hit way more than they missed.

One of the first hit original series that I was surprised to like was SEX IN THE CITY.

No Lie. If you would have told me I would enjoy a show about four white women, approaching middle age and talking men and shoes in NYC? I would have answer "EEEEWW. Seriously? So Gross!"

However, the writing, acting and direction was always fresh and really exciting.

So you would think I would be ready for the upcoming prequel on the CW about an 18 year old Carrie Bradshaw played by Anna Sophia Robb? Not so much. Not yet.

I still have not seen the SITC movies. I felt when that series ended it should have ended. I personally have moved on.

I also am not excited about the fact it will air on THE CW. Unless they are getting the writers from the original SITC or Smallville, I have no faith in them being able to make this series fresh at all.

The Carrie Diaries will be coming to the CW soon.
