I Wonder....DO YOU UNDERSTAND Part One.

YOU WILL MOST LIKELY NEVER GET ONE OF THESE....

I am going to make some talented performers angry with me as well as some less talented ones who constantly shoot themselves metaphorically in the foot.

I WONDER IF ARTISTS TODAY KNOW WHAT IT TAKES TO BE SUCCESSFUL?

Now, I believe you can have a successful music career today with out being a hit recording artist.

I would say that being a music artist and recording artist at this point in time are two different things.

The Secret To SUCCESS

There are several things that everyone in every walk of life needs to do to be successful.

There are several things that will always put you further and further behind.

Please believe...no one has ALWAYS done everything RIGHT.
Also know that EVERYONE has tripped themselves up at one time or another.

THE KEY IS TO GET INTO THE HABIT OF DOING IT RIGHT.

In 2012-2013...Doing it right means....

Making Solid Music That People Want To Hear- Yeah millions of people on Facebook and Twitter have cute pictures and quotes "At The Same Damn Time." The question is.How many many people are buying the CD's and paying to download the song? And even if you come up with a catchy beat and phrase at the same damn time. Who is going to pay you to listen to it?

Network Smarter-You spent a night at the club buying "Trone" for you and the honey with the shortest skirt. You got up on stage and was one of 25 other MC's that night. Then you gave away your CD to the other people at the club and let's say you added 50 new people to your Twitter and Facebook.

How has this night gotten you closer to your goal of becoming a successful music artist?

Do What You Say You Will and Can Do-New York, Philadelphia, L.A and other big market music cities are as small as they have ever been. Try to deliver when given an opportunity.

You may be the best band in Philly, you could be hottest comic in L.A you can have the sweetest voice to come out of Harlem but guess what? At that same stage you are on, there will now be people from Detroit, Houston, Atlantic City and sometimes from a whole different country who wants to take that stage. Some one from out of town who wants to sing on that radio show. Someone who has less experience but who will deliver that wants that fan that you earned.

I personally give a performer one time to burn me and than I mentally place them at the back of the line.

There are TOO MANY artists who treat their career like a hobby, but for myself and the people in my circle...Music and Entertainment is our career and a priority.

I WILL GET NO WHERE CONSTANTLY DEALING WITH ARTISTS WHO HALF STEP.

HALF STEPPERS will constantly be asked to find a place in the back, to please come again when YOU ARE READY. (That's what I say. Most will tell you never come back you blew it.)

There is not enough internet to go into all the do's and don'ts. I also do not know every thing so in part two.

I will be asking my other professional friends to critique this article and to answer the question themselves....DO ARTISTS UNDERSTAND WHAT IT TAKES TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN 2013?
